I reached Taipei on 7 Jul and stayed at Yi Chuan SB place for a night. The next morning, I took a train down to Hualian. I was very lucky that I bumped into several SBs on the train who are also returning to Hualian and followed them back to the Abode.
我七月七日到达台北，并在义川师伯家住了一晚。第二天早上买了吕光号列车下花莲。非常幸运的，我在列车上遇到几位也是下花莲的师伯，便和他们一起回精舍。

I was at the Abode from 8 Jul to 17 Jul, before flying back to Singapore. It was a very surprising and enriching experience.
In the morning, alarm rings at 4 am and we assemble at 4.30 am for morning prayers. The sutra to be chanted during daily prayers is different and changes everyday. Master will be in the Main Hall in front with other nuns while Tzu Chi volunteers are in Guan Yin Hall. Chanting is in Taiwanese.
凌晨四点竹声响起，凌晨四点半诵经。经文每日不一样，而且是用台语唱诵。上人与诸位师父在大殿里诵经，而慈济人则在观音殿里诵经。
At 5.30 am, Master will start her daily explanation of the sutra. Everyday, she will explain a short portion of the sutra, moving from one sutra to another. Presently, she is explaining the Amitartha sutra. If Master is free, she will explain the sutra in person, or else it will be pre-recorded.
凌晨五点半，上人开示“静思晨语”。 每天上人会解释经文的一部分。目前，上人正在开示无量义经。如果上人有空会亲自在观音殿开示，否则开示将会是预录的。
At 6 am, alarm will ring again, informing that it is time for breakfast. We will assemble in the dining hall and wait for Master arrival. After paying our respect, we will all sit down for breakfast, consisting of rice or porridge, noodles or buns and other vegetables.
凌晨六点竹声再次响起，大家在食堂集合。上人到食堂后，大家向上人行三问讯礼后，便用早膳。早膳是白饭或稀饭，加上面条、包点和蔬菜。
At small note, the alarm is not a bell ringing but the sound produced by hitting 2 bamboo sticks together.
需要注意的是，竹声的确是两块竹板敲打出来的。
After breakfast, we will help out in cleaning the Abode, sweeping the ground, cleaning the windows or mopping the floor. I helped out with sweeping the road leading to the Abode daily, using a broom that is made from tree branches.
早膳后，大家帮助清扫精舍，扫路、抹窗或拖地。我用着一把树枝做成的扫帚，每天帮忙把通往精舍的马路扫干净。
Slightly before 7 am, we will assemble in Guan Yin Hall again for Master's daily talk on Tzu Chi activities. We will sing our prayers and pay our respect to Master when she enters. Master's daily talk will start at 7 am and end at around 7.20 am. This talk will be compressed and aired on our television at 7 pm the same evening.
凌晨七点前，我们再次集合在观音殿内，唱诵祈祷歌，并在上人步入观音殿后向上人行三问讯礼。凌晨七点正至七点二十分，上人开示“人间菩提”，从慈济全球的活动切入向大家说法。整个开示会被压缩至十二分钟，并在当天晚上七点于大爱电视台播出。
After Master's talk, Tzu Chi volunteers from our 6 hospitals, media center in Taipei and those present in the Abode will shared with everybody their experience in Tzu Chi, each lastly about 10 minutes. The whole event will end at 8.30 am, while at the same time, the whole one and a half session is broadcast simultaneously to branches all over the world and to our Tzu Chi volunteers in Sichuan.
上人开示后，是“志工早会”，慈济六所医院、人文志业中心和精舍内的慈济人会轮流分享在慈济的心得，每人约十分钟。早会同步向全球慈济分支联会及四川赈灾团联播，并在早上八点半结束。

There are 5 time slots where there are buses between the Abode and Hualian Tzu Chi Hospital, at 8.30 am, 11 am, 3 pm, 5.30 pm and 7 pm.
每天来往精舍和慈济医院的巴士分成五段时间：早上八点半，上午十一点，下午三时，下午五点半和半晚七点。
Dinner will start at 6.30 pm, after which it is "free time" where we can bath and wash our clothes. Hot water is supplied from 7 pm to 9 pm (if I remember correctly). There are no toilet seats, just the squatting type. There is no washing machine but one drying machine in case of raining weather. There are 3 washing boards in the male bathroom for us to wash our clothes.
如果来得及回到精舍，晚膳在下午六点半开始。之后是“自由时间” ，好让大家洗澡及洗衣。热水供应从晚上七点至九点（如果我没记错），厕所是蹲式没有座式，没有洗衣机，有一台烘干机以备雨季衣服不干。最后，男众浴室有三块洗衣板让我们洗衣。
In the evening, we mostly stay in our dorm or go downstairs to a hall where Da Ai television is available. There will also be evening prayers there. There are no beds in our dorm, just wooden floor with pillows and blankets. I cannot stand the hard floor and used my blanket as mattress. Lights will be off at 10 pm and the whole cycle repeats itself.
晚上大家大多留在辽房内或到楼下厅里观看大爱电视。晚课也在那厅里举行。辽房内没有床位，只有木板、枕头和被子。木板太硬，我只好把被子当做床垫睡。晚上十点熄灯，而精舍的一天会在明早凌晨四点竹声响时周而复始。
