Tzu Chi Free Clinic Reopening Ceremony

The reopening of the Tzu Chi Free Clinic in Redhill is a major event for us. Planning and discussion occurred many months before the actual day. I was not involved as I was not too involved in the medical area. When Peter SX saw me as a guest that day, he reminded me to offer my services in the kitchen next time.

Tzu Chi free clinic was relocated to Redhill because there is a high percentage of needy elderly living alone in Redhill, one of the oldest estates in Singapore. The Clinic sees its first patient at 3 pm that day, but elderly start streaming in at 2.30 pm.

Many Tzu volunteers not tasked with assignments were called to join in as guest. I was one of them, since our staffs were doing the photography. The initial plan was to get at least 500 Tzu Chi volunteers as guest, to represent the Avalokitesvara bodhisattva of thousand hands. I hope we achieved it because I saw a lot of people present that day.

I am very happy that our free clinic finally reopened, for the good of the needy as well as my recruitment of contributing members. With our free clinic, it is much easier to explain to my friends what Tzu Chi is doing and why we need their donation.
